Halloween isn't a traditional Balinese holiday, so you won't find neighbourhood trick-or-treating, but the expat and traveller scene more than makes up for it. Beach clubs, villas and bars across Canggu, Berawa, Seminyak, Uluwatu and Ubud throw themed parties, costume contests and Día de los Muertos fiestas from late October through early November. Whatever you're going to, you'll want a costume that stands out and survives the tropical heat.
Bringing the little ones? Canggu's cafés and resorts run daytime trick-or-treat trails, face painting and games, spots like Milk & Madu in Berawa have hosted kids' Halloween celebrations in past years, and family resorts across the island put on haunted kids' clubs and costume contests.
